This one goes out to all of my fashionistas! Fall is seriously one of my favorite times of the year as far as fashion goes. I mean come on, with your warm and cozy sweater you could be wearing last nights pajamas underneath and nobody would even know about it. I'm totally sold. :)
I decided to go with a balance of dressy and casual. It's nice to have a few options for events and gatherings around the holidays!
Here's a few fun outfits you can throw together that are totally fall appropriate.
Day dreamin' about the coffee that isn't even in this cup.
This outfit screams coffee date to me. I can't place my finger on why, but it just is! Not to mention, this dress is right there next to pajamas on the comfort level. It seriously feels like I'm wearing nothing. I could wear it every day.
Bodycon Dress: Forever 21
Chambray Shirt: Old Navy
Peep Toe Booties: Forever Young Shoes
This outfit is SO fun. Between the leather jacket and the lacy fishnet tights, it's an outfit that makes a statement for sure! Perfect for a holiday party! I've had this faux leather jacket for about 4 years, and am still not ready to let it go. I feel my fall wardrobe is incomplete without a leather jacket in the mix. Also how pretty is this deep teal dress? Total jewel tone that is perfect for fall!
Teal Dress: Macy's
Moto Jacket: Thrift Store (No joke! Found a diamond in the rough)
Lace Fishnets: Forever 21
Moto Boots: Forever Young Shoes
I love this sweater dress! It has a bit of a European vibe to it. I'm diggin' it. I could see this as a simple holiday party outfit. It's super comfy too! Always a bonus!
Sweater Dress: Macy's
Burgundy Tights: Forever 21
Gold Bow Belt: Amazon
Moto Boots: Forever Young Shoes
This would be my "out running errands" outfit. Simple V-neck, jeans, and utility jacket...oh and coffee. Never forget the coffee. You could always skip the heels, but I like mixing a little dressy with casual.
Utility Jacket: TJ Maxx
White V-Neck: Old Navy
Black Heels: TJ Maxx
Jessica Simpson Sunnies: TJ Maxx
Welp, that's a wrap of Blogtober! I Hope you all enjoyed the posts this month. I had a lot of fun with them! Special thanks to Gage for helping me make it all happen, and for playing photographer at times. November will be lots of fun for the blog, I can't wait. :)
Lots of love!
Holy cow! We are on our last week of Blogtober. It's been so much fun to do these blog posts! I have one more post planned for the month to wrap it all up. I'm a little sad to leave Blogtober behind, but super excited for what's coming in November! Stay tuned!
Alright guys...I have a confession. Up until 2 years ago, I had only carved a pumpkin maybe once or twice in my life. I know, I know. I was a deprived child. ;)
When Gage and I moved in together, he was appalled that pumpkin carvings weren't really a huge tradition in my family. He has carved one every year ever since he could remember! So just like that, a new tradition was born in our household. I gotta say, it's pretty fun! I also make pumpkin seeds from the pumpkins as a new tradition. Our pumpkin carvings in the past have been very creative and not the traditional Jack-O-Lantern style, so we tried to keep that theme going this year. I'm really happy with how they turned out!
Gage is an avid New England fan at heart, so it was only fitting for him to carve the TB12 logo on his pumpkin. I on the other hand, tried to keep it a little more girly on my end. Man that Tinkerbell took more time than what I signed up for, but I'm so pleased with how she turned out!
Do any of you carve pumpkins for Halloween? I'd love to see some of your carvings!
Love you all lots and lots!
Well hello my beautiful people!
I have a short and sweet post for you all today.
I'm taking a break from Blogtober posting to share some exciting news!!!
Today we became our own community! We officially have our own domain, which resulted in a slightly different name for the blog: My Beautiful Life. I kinda like it. :)
The content will still remain the same! Not much will change, other than the new domain. I do have some big plans for us the month of November, and I could not be more excited to share them with you! Until then, Blogtober will continue through the end of the month. Can you believe October is almost over? Halloween is just right around the corner!
Until next post! Thank you all for the awesome support in getting the blog to this point! I couldn't have done it without my amazing readers!
Earlier this week, I made one of my very favorite treats during this time of year. My love for pumpkin chocolate chip cookies is in fact, true love. I could eat these babies all year round!
I would say that the recipe I use has got to be one of the easiest there is. I probably am not the first person to use this recipe, but seriously guys it's SO GOOD. Not to mention, it's only 3 ingredients. Talk about having some delicious cookies ready in under 30 minutes!
All you need is a spice cake mix, a 15 oz can of pumpkin, and bag of milk chocolate chips. It's that easy! I use the Ghirardelli chocolate chips, because they just don't taste quite the same with any other brand.
All you need to do is dump your spice cake in a mixing bowl, dump your can of pumpkin in with it, and blend together until smooth. It should be thicker than cake batter, but thinner than a dough. Add the chocolate chips in after it's blended. I use the whole bag of chocolate chips, but use as much as you'd like. Just like that, you've got your cookie dough! It should look like this:
Since the dough isn't quite thick enough to grab with your hands and roll, I use a large spoon to drop the dough on a greased baking sheet. They won't grow much while baking, so make them as big or small as you'd like. I make mine about this size, and keep them about an inch apart:
Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden. They may look a little under cooked, but they will continue to harden as they cool. Do not overcook! Let them cool for about 15-20 minutes...or don't.
Just like that, you have delicious, soft, gooey cookies that taste delightful. And yes, there is a cookie missing from this picture. I needed to...um...do a taste test to make sure the cookies were done.....
There you have it! These cookies are so easy and perfect for the person who doesn't like to bake. ;)
I hope you enjoy these as much as I did! Much love!
Let's talk decor! I finally got all of my fall decorating done! I don't have much room to decorate since we live in a very small 1 bedroom apartment, but hey I'm rolling with it.
Remember my post a few days ago when I talked about the free fall printables I found? Well you can bet your bottom dollar I took full advantage of those! I had some extra frames laying around in the storage closet collecting dust, so why not put them to good use? I'll put the link here if you missed that post.
There's no better place to start than at the front door!
Confession. This has actually been my year round door hanging since last year. I'm pretty big on seasonal door hangings, but I just haven't found one that I love for the other seasons yet. It's just so darn cute though, I couldn't forget to include it. The burlap just screams rustic fall to me! I got it from an Etsy shop. You can find it here.
Seriously, how cute is my little Autumn shelf. And how cute are these FREE printables. Did I mention they were free? Alright, good. This all came together so beautifully. I couldn't be happier with my little shelf! The candle holder, owl, and pumpkin all came from TJ Maxx, and none of them were over $4. They have some really cute decor right now, so if you're feeling dangerous take a peek in there!
I've had this decorative bowl for ages and never had a place for it. These pine cones pair quite nicely with it. I put it in the center of my coffee table. The pine cones also came from TJ Maxx! Okay I know how easy it is to find these in nature, but who has time for that? Not this girl! Plus they were only $3.99. Perfectly justifiable. :)
Yay for table runners! And yay for having a table this year to have a table runner! Last year, our dining room table was our couch. Hehe. It's a very small runner, but hey our table is small. It came from Amazon.com aka my second home. You can find it here.
Fall decorating just wouldn't be complete without a scented candle. Last but certainly not least, I introduce to the Caramel Cinnamon Roll candle. Oh em gee. It's heavenly! This was given to me as a gift, but I believe you can find similar scents at Walmart or Bath & Body Works.
That's all for my fall decorating this year! I know it isn't much, but you can trust and believe I worked with all of the space I was allowed for my decorating! I'd love to see any other decorating ideas you have for the upcoming season.
Good morning folks!
I have a poem for all you this morning. Ready?
Coffee, coffee, coffee
Everyone shut up,
Or in my case, Chai Tea. Wasn't that a beautiful piece??
But on a real note, I want to share with you my morning ritual in the fall/winter months! It's kind of simple, but it really sets my tone for the whole day.
When I finally get myself out of bed (definitely not a morning person), the first thing I do is make myself my home version of a Chai Tea Latte. I have a Keureg, which if you don't have one go buy one NOW. I'll just pop in a Chai Tea K-cup, sprinkle a little cinnamon, and pour a little Creme Brulee flavored creamer after it's brewed. Close enough to the real thing right?
While my piping hot drink cools a bit, I'll make a super fancy breakfast (usually cereal). Once I'm finished I take my drink over to our big blue recliner and sip on it while I read a chapter from the book I'm reading. I keep the room completely silent and tech free, even if it's only for 10 or 15 minutes. It's my time in the day to really recharge from all of the chaos. It might be a short amount of time, but it's "me time." No people, no TV, no phone. Just me, my book, and my Chai Tea.
Everyone needs a dose of "me time" during the day. My favorite time of day to do it is in the morning. If I don't do it in the morning, it won't happen at all in the day. Once you get going in the day, it's easy to make excuses or forget.
I know today's post was very simple, but I think we could all use a little time with no noise or technology. What do you do for your "me time?" Do you even make time for it? If not, make a conscious effort to start, especially before the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Notice how it affects your day.
Love you all.
*PS: Thank you to my sweet friend Abbey for giving me this adorable mug in a care package!
Before I start this post, I need to clarify something. My version of Blogtober is not like the others. Most people use Blogtober to write a blog post every day in October. While I would love to do that, I have some big plans for the blog in November (be excited). I will be blogging a bit more frequently this month, and all posts will be Fall related. Just not every single day. Okay, let's talk about makeup!!
*Quick disclaimer: I am a licensed Esthetician, but in no way shape or form am I an expert on makeup. This is not a tutorial. I enjoy collecting it and experimenting with different looks just because I like to!
Yesterday I played around with a soft and natural makeup look with some black cherry lips, aka my FAVE makeup trend during the fall months. I also brought out my Lorac Unzipped eye shadow palette, which has been so neglected the past little while! If you love the rosy neutral trend, it's definitely worth the money!
Here's how the look turned out:
I think this look is totally wearable wherever you go! The contrast of the dark lip with a really soft eye really balances things out. It's also crazy long wearing, thanks to my trusty Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. To say I'm in love with that stuff is an understatement.
Here's the products I used:
-Kate Somerville Prime Protection Primer
-Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
-Bare Minerals Mineral Veil
-Pop Beauty Sunkissed Bronzer in Secret Sunshine
-Elf Shimmering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal (highlight)
-Elf Studio Blush in Blushing Rose
-Anastasia Dipbrow in Taupe (New fave)
-Milani Eyeshadow Primer
-Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette in shades Unattainable (Lid), Unbridled (outer corner, crease, & lower lashline), Unconditional (blended in crease), and Undercover (inner corner & brow).
-Covergirl Supersizer Mascara
-Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Bordeaux
Annnd that's a wrap! I'd love to know of any fall makeup trends that have been on your list! Thanks everyone. :)
I hope everybody had a fabulous weekend, because we sure did! We had cooler weather, had some great family time, and we got to see some friends! It was a blast!
Saturday night we went to one of our favorite places, 2000 flushes. If you've never been there, you MUST. There isn't another place quite like it. Lots of my high school memories were built there.
Some of my favorite high school memories included autumn, watching the sunset, going shooting, football games, post game bonfires, quality time with friends, off-roading adventures, and cold weather. Of course most of those memories were at 2000 flushes.
It's been over a year since I had been there last, and I could almost smell the scent of bonfire in the air. It made me miss all of those adventures so much! Naturally we relived most of those adventures on Saturday except a football game and a bonfire.
While we were there, one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen happened!
No filter needed on this beauty. Southern Utah sunsets are God's gift to this earth. :)
I hope all of you had as good of a weekend as I did. Let's make more Autumn memories!
Hello friends! And hello October! Welcome to a new series of posts dedicated to Blogtober! All of this months posts will be October/Fall related. Super original, I know.
October is my absolute favorite month! The leaves start turning, the pumpkin spice comes out, the air turns a bit more crisp, and it becomes acceptable to start talking about the holidays!!! I mean, what's not to love?
Yesterday I pulled all of my sweaters and boots out of my fall/winter storage totes and it brought me SO MUCH JOY!
To kick off my favorite month, I want to use the 5 senses to describe why October is my fave. Ready, set go:
Seriously, nothing beats the visual aspect of fall. Watching the leaves turn on the mountains is what I look forward to every year! Instagram is one of my favorite places to see pictures of fall nature. I also LOVE looking at all of the fall decor! I recently found a few websites where you can find some adorable fall printouts. Check them out here and here. Last but not least, I can't possibly forget that all of my season premiers for my favorite shows start! Although, I'm a little bit salty about a few of them this season (yes I'm talking to you Grey's Anatomy and Vampire Diaries).
Umm...where do I even begin on this one??? For starters, pumpkin spice everything! My favorite treat during October is homemade pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. They make my mouth water just talking about them. YUM. Throw in all of the yummy, spicy baked goods on top of that and I'm sold. Don't forget all of the hot drinks either! This is the time of year when I stop drinking iced tea, and start drinking hot chocolate, chai lattes, and hot coffee. This is also the time of year when I start pulling out the Crock Pot again to do slow cooked meals and soups. I'm sure you'll be seeing plenty of these recipes in the weeks to come!
My favorite sound in the whole wide world is listening to leaves crunch under your feet as you're walking. It makes me giddy. Am I right?
Everything suddenly becomes much more cozy during October. I love when it gets cool enough outside to start bringing in the heated blanket and curling up on the couch. Feeling the crisp, cool air outside is my favorite thing to feel. Being able to start wearing thick, warm sweaters makes me fall more in love with fall (no pun intended) every year!
Last but certainly not least, the smell of October! If you don't like the smell of pumpkin, I feel very sorry for you during this time of year. It's EVERYWHERE, and I absolutely love it. Bath and Body Works candles, I'm coming for you.
Everything about this post makes me so happy October is here! I'm going to soak up every minute of it. Although St. George weather doesn't like to think it's fall yet (it's 90 degrees outside as we speak), maybe this post will convince Mother Nature that it's time to cool down! Happy October everyone!
