Hope your day is going well! I wanted to share with you a few products that I have used up recently, and whether or not they were worth repurchasing. We all know I'm a huge makeup nerd, and it's pretty rare for me to find a product I love enough to repurchase several times since I'm always branching out and trying new products. So if I've repurchased any of these, you know I'm in love.
I don't have a ton of products to share, but hopefully it's enough to give you some insight if you've been thinking of purchasing some of these. So without further ado....
1. Lancome Teint Miracle Radiant Foundation:
I wore the shade Ivoire 2C, which was definitely on the lighter side for me. I purchased this foundation in the winter months, so I tried to use it up before I got a little bit of a tan in the summer. This foundation was good, but not groundbreaking. It's a light/medium coverage foundation at best, and is very glowy. I've been loving the glowy foundations, but this one just didn't cover enough for me. It also didn't have the greatest staying power, even when wore with a good primer underneath. For having a $47 price tag, I had much higher expectations for this product. If you're in search of a Lancome foundation, I would recommend the Tient Idole Ultra 24 Hour. It has crazzzzy staying power, especially in comparison to this one.
2. Laura Geller Spackle Treatment Even Tone Makeup Primer:
I cannot say enough good things about Laura Geller Spackle Primers!!! This is the third time repurchasing a variation of this primer! I have used both the Tinted version, and Champagne version. This primer is more on the hydrating side, which is great if you want your foundation to look more like "skin." I'm a combo/oily skinned person, and have had zero issues with this primer being more hydrating. In fact, my skin loves it. This line of primers is more on the glowy side, which is something that I've been loving lately. I didn't repurchase this time, because I've been wanting to branch out and try Laura Mercier primers. It's probably guaranteed that I will come back to these primers though.
3. Maybelline Color Whisper in Lust for Blush:
I have so many lip products that it's super rare for one to end up on my list of empties....if that shows you how much I used this! These lip products are great if you want something low maintenance, that you don't really need a mirror for. I can't say the staying power is fantastic, but they are lightweight with a decent amount of color. They don't feel greasy at all. They have more color impact than your average tinted lip balm, but a little less impact than a lipstick. The shade Lust for Blush is a light pink/nude shade. It goes well with any eye look or outfit, which is why I wore it so much! I loved this lip product, and will probably repurchase it again in a few different shades!
4. Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer:
This was an AMAZING concealer!!! Hands down something I will repurchase! It's extremely full coverage, and very hydrating, so I used it primarily under the eyes. I used the shade Fair (the lightest shade) which was perfect for my skin tone to highlight areas of the face. My only caution with this product is that a little bit goes a long way, and it really needs to be set with a powder for it to truly be "creaseless." It doesn't set on it's own, and since it's very hydrating it can stay tacky if it's not set. I didn't repurchase this time, since I've been wanting to try Benefit Erase Paste. But this is a concealer I would highly recommend!
5. E.L.F Shimmering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal:
This highlighter is $1 people! $1 freaking dollar! It's a beautiful highlight with just the right amount of glow to it. There's no sparkle or glitter, just a beautiful shimmery glow. The only shade I've tried is the Lilac Petal, but I definitely want to try more! This tiny tube lasted me at least a year...so you could say it's well worth the dollar. And hey, if you don't end up liking it you're only short $1.
6. Estee Lauder Double Wear Light:
If you know me, you will know that my holy grail of foundations is Estee Lauder Double Wear. Hands down. I find myself wanting something a little lighter during the summer since it's so hot outside, so I decided to get the light version to try it out. I absolutely loved it! The shades do run a bit darker than the original, so be aware of that. I got the shade 02 Light, but I probably could have gone one shade lighter. I still like the original Double Wear the best, but this is great if you want something that feels a little lighter for those hot summer days.
Ok, now it's my turn to ask you! What kind of makeup have you recently used up, and would you recommend it to others or opt to try something different?
Thanks for checking out this post, and I'll probably do more of these and I accumulate more empties!
Every blogger reads other people's blogs. It's kind of an unspoken rule...if you write you must read also. How else are we supposed to get that inspiration going?
I have 5 that I am going to share with you today. Of course I read more than 5, but these are the ones you can count on me sticking to pretty regularly.
1. Pocketchange Gourmet
This website has definitely earned it's number one spot in my top five. It's a fairly recent find, but it's brilliant! Doug has hundreds and hundreds of recipes in any category you could possibly think of. He also has a monthly menu plan that has each week's meals for dinner planned out for you, all you have to do is shop! They are very easy, budget friendly recipes that are to die for! Perfect for working women and moms. Oh, and each week's meal plan comes with a weekly dessert. It's a win for everyone involved really.
I have been following Caroline for a little over a year now, and have watched her website change and grow so much! She was one of the first bloggers I consistently followed, and was the one who inspired me to start a blog of my own. So hello Caroline, and thank you! Her blog is based around capsule wardrobes. If you aren't familiar with what those are, she explains it perfectly here. She originally started with posting a new capsule wardrobe each season, and posting almost daily different combinations of outfits within her capsule. I love her minimalist style, and the whole idea around capsule wardrobes and ethical clothing. Although she doesn't post seasonal capsules anymore, I still love the direction Un-Fancy is going towards. Keep it up Caroline!
3. Barefoot Blonde
Can we all just take a moment and appreciate how perfect Amber Fillerup Clark and her family are? If you haven't been to her website, just take a gander (although it will make you extremely jealous of the life she lives). Her style is perfect. Her hair is perfect. Her kids are perfect. Oh, and they travel EVERYWHERE. Barefoot Blonde is the perfect mixture of lifestyle, fashion, makeup, and hair tutorials. It's such a fun blog to follow!
4. Beauty Broadcast
I originally found Emily on YouTube 2 years ago and fell in love with her beauty channel! Her channel was the first channel I ever watched consistently on YouTube, I'll link it here. She is an avid makeup and beauty product geek who gives honest, unsponsored reviews and tutorials on various high end and drugstore makeup products. She was the one who introduced me into the beauty industry, and eventually inspired me to become an Esthetician and makeup artist. Outside of her channel, she occasionally posts on her blog some bonus reviews that never see the channel. I love watching her grow as a YouTuber and a blogger!
4. Clean My Space
My fifth and final favorite blogger would have to be Clean My Space! Melissa also has a YouTube channel (which is where I originally found her) all about cleaning and organizing your home! On both her website and YouTube channel, she gives various tips and tricks that you would never think of when cleaning your home. She also has several recipes for homemade, nontoxic cleaning products using essential oils. I don't particularly enjoy cleaning, but reading her blog and watching her channel make it a little more fun and motivating to clean my own space.
There you have it! My five favorite blogs are all very different styles, but that's why I love to read them. They are all super unique, and it gives me a different variety to read from. Go check them out, and when you do say hello for me! Let me know what you think of them.
Thanks for reading. Love you all as always!
Before I start this post, I need to clarify something. My version of Blogtober is not like the others. Most people use Blogtober to write a blog post every day in October. While I would love to do that, I have some big plans for the blog in November (be excited). I will be blogging a bit more frequently this month, and all posts will be Fall related. Just not every single day. Okay, let's talk about makeup!!
*Quick disclaimer: I am a licensed Esthetician, but in no way shape or form am I an expert on makeup. This is not a tutorial. I enjoy collecting it and experimenting with different looks just because I like to!
Yesterday I played around with a soft and natural makeup look with some black cherry lips, aka my FAVE makeup trend during the fall months. I also brought out my Lorac Unzipped eye shadow palette, which has been so neglected the past little while! If you love the rosy neutral trend, it's definitely worth the money!
Here's how the look turned out:
I think this look is totally wearable wherever you go! The contrast of the dark lip with a really soft eye really balances things out. It's also crazy long wearing, thanks to my trusty Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. To say I'm in love with that stuff is an understatement.
Here's the products I used:
-Kate Somerville Prime Protection Primer
-Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
-Bare Minerals Mineral Veil
-Pop Beauty Sunkissed Bronzer in Secret Sunshine
-Elf Shimmering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal (highlight)
-Elf Studio Blush in Blushing Rose
-Anastasia Dipbrow in Taupe (New fave)
-Milani Eyeshadow Primer
-Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette in shades Unattainable (Lid), Unbridled (outer corner, crease, & lower lashline), Unconditional (blended in crease), and Undercover (inner corner & brow).
-Covergirl Supersizer Mascara
-Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Bordeaux
Annnd that's a wrap! I'd love to know of any fall makeup trends that have been on your list! Thanks everyone. :)
